Wor-Wic Community College is accepting applications for a full-time Pre-K teacher's assistant to help the instructor and other professionals in the Jordan Center achieve instructional objectives.

Essential Duties

The following list is not intended as, nor should it be construed as, exhaustive of all responsibilities, skills or working conditions associated with this position.

  • Works with students in small groups on a specific concept/skill according to the students' skill level; assists with large group activities, field trips, and other special programs/activities for students; works with individuals or small groups to reinforce material introduced by teacher; and provides programmed practice activities and repetitions as developed by the instructor
  • Guides independent study and other work assigned by the instructor
  • Reports student problems to the instructor and assists with student problems
  • Assists with breakfast, lunch, snack, cleanup, lavatory, clothing, personal hygiene and wash-up routines
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or the equivalent
  • Two years of experience in a childcare setting
  • Self-starter
  • Excellent organizational, human relations and oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, students, parents and associates
  • Ability to use classroom and instructional equipment
  • Must be at least 19 years old
  • Must complete criminal and Child Protective Services background checks
  • Must have current infant and child CPR; ADA; and first aid certifications (or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire)
  • Pre-employment medical report and approval from the Maryland Department of Education, Office of Childcare required
  • Preference will be given to candidates who possess:
    • An associate degree in early childhood education or other relevant field
    • Preschool Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
