THIS IS A GRANT-FUNDED POSITION

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Research Technician 2 assists with conducting cloning, protein purification, and structural biology. This position will provide research support in various cell-based and molecular pharmacology assays leading to the discovery of new drugs and elucidation of their mechanisms of action.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs protein purification, cloning, and crystallography.
  2. Conducts molecular and cellular biology assays.
  3. Performs data analysis and summarizes the results of all experiments.
  4. Perform technical laboratory work including polymerase chain reaction, gel electrophoresis, and DNA/RNA isolation.
  5. Prepares buffers and experimental reagents.
  6. Provides general maintenance of laboratory bench areas and other workspaces.
  7. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Immunology, Cancer Cell Biology, or Science-related field. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE:OR a combination of education, training, and experience to equal eight (8) years.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge and experience in protein purification, cloning, and structural biology.
  • Skilled in standard laboratory techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and strong interpersonal skills to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work evenings and weekends.
