The Interior Architecture and Design Program at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga invites applicants for a full-time, nine-month, tenure track faculty member at the Assistant rank to begin August 2024. The responsibilities of this position include advising students, teaching design classes with attention to CIDA standards, scholarly research and/or creative scholarship, and service to the university and profession.

Position Description: Successful candidates will possess proven experience in digital technology (Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, Lumion, etc.) and commercial interiors including at least two of the following areas: healthcare design, corporate office, hospitality, and/or retail design to name a few. Other desired areas of expertise include: ideation and concept development, graphics, construction documents and detailing, building systems, business practices, and sustainability. Ideal candidates will possess the ability to teach introductory and advanced courses, as well as the ability to engage in a variety of instructional modalities, including online instruction.

Required Qualifications:
  • Terminal Degree in Interior Design or closely related field
  • Previous experience in post-secondary teaching and research
  • NCIDQ Certified
Desirable Qualifications:
  • LEED or WELL accredited
  • Membership and involvement in professional organizations such as ASID, IIDA, AIA, and/or IDEC
  • Experience or leadership with CIDA Accreditation
