The incumbent will serve as an administrative associate to the Department Chair, the Vice Chair for Education and the Vice Chair for Research. Duties include the complex and professional management of the Chair and Vice Chair’s day-to-day activities, including but not limited to: Maintaining and scheduling the Chairman and Vice Chair’s complex daily calendar in relation to their roles within the University, travel arrangements that include international trips; serving as the liaison with faculty, staff and students of the department as well as colleagues across the School and University, and external contacts, problem-solving as appropriate; coordination/design and production of reports, presentations, and class materials utilizing advanced technology software such as Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, Front Page, Endnote, Adobe, etc. Responsible for organizing meetings, travel arrangements and reimbursements for all department faculty. Duties entail being well informed about Departmental, School and University organizations, programs, policies, and regulations. Provide support for all departmental committees including preparing minutes. Assume lead roles in the organization/planning of retreats, workshops, conferences and teleconferences. Must have the ability to plan, organize and coordinate the various details associated with hosting large meetings. Oversight, planning and organizing of any faculty recruitment efforts. The incumbent works in close collaboration with the department administrator, grants manager and clerical staff in the department as well as faculty, staff, and students across the University. The incumbent should be able to function independently in all of these tasks.
A Bachelor's degree is Preferred, but direct relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of education requirement minimum.

• Thrive in a professional work environment and possess good judgement while acting as the liaison or representative of the Department Chair.
• Be self-motivated and excel at handling various position responsibilities, concurrently
• Be able to work independently with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks as well as problem solve and make decisions independently when applicable.
• Be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with University computer software, operating systems and applications is preferred.
• Have a willingness and eagerness to learn new things
• Have knowledge of departmental and University policies and procedures
