Have one or more of the following: 1. Kentucky Registered SRNA, for ED- KY Registered SRNA or EMT 2.RN nursing student who has completed first fundamental course and a clinical 3. Military Medic 4. current/active LPN license 5. Acquired Nursing Care Technician ( NCT) competencies through continuous employment in a NCT or PCT role at University of Kentucky Plus American Heart Association ( AHA) Basic Life Support certification for the Healthcare Provider valid at time of hire is required

Physical Requirements

This position requires regularly sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to or over 50 pounds; and standing or walking with objects weighing up to 10 pounds; occasionally requires standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds and/or working in confined spaces. Also involves some exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; and exposure to loud noises, temperature extremes, hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, radiation, burns, cuts/punctures, blood-borne or airborne pathogens, and/or combative/violent people

Shift

Hours are variable between days, evenings, nights with some weekend and holiday requirements. Must work a minimum of 36 hours/month. Preferred candidates will be able to work a variety of shifts. This position requires the ability to do orientation of up to 40 hours per week on any shift for the first 3-4 weeks of employment This position will also require that the employee float as needed between UK Chandler ED and Good Samaritan ED.

Job Summary

The Nursing Care Technician in the ED is a member of the team who is responsible for patient care, patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes. The NCT performs the duties for which they are trained, including providing comfort measures for the patient and notifying the RN when any change in the patient's condition occurs.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Previous experience as a nursing care tech strongly preferred.
Good communication skills, dependability, customer service

Preferred Education/Experience

Previous experience as a NCT preferred, or completion of Fundamentals of Nursing Class/Clinical. Must be able to attend orientation classes as well as unit orientations
