Come join our Post-award Team as a Lead Grant Management Specialist and supervise a team of Grant Management Specialists, providing the grant and budget expertise behind a University of Kentucky College of Medicine Research Faculty's next big discovery! Accounting for the majority of UK's National Institutes of Health ( NIH) funding, the UK College of Medicine's is the place to be for innovative, cutting-edge research in an extensive range of areas—from Cancer Research to Cardiovascular and Alzheimer's Disease to COVID-19 and a lot in between. As part of the College of Medicine, our office, Sponsored Research Administrative Services ( SRAS), plays an important part in supporting this great research from the administrative side.
This is a fully remote position.
Each Lead Grant Management Specialist will supervise a team of Grant Management Specialists who support faculty investigators and department business staff in the administration of active grants to ensure compliance with policy requirements of external sponsors as well as UK policies and procedures related to grants, with a focus on customer service. Supervisory tasks will include support of the hiring process, on-boarding, training, quality control, and regular performance evaluations. These individuals will also have their own department/center assignments and will be responsible for working with faculty on the administrative and budgetary aspects of their sponsored research projects, including grant account management functions including PADR review, budget planning/projections and analysis, budget revision and journal voucher processing, and initiating subcontracts and related amendments. The main goals are to ensure a high-level of compliance with all applicable policies and regulations, while helping to ensure that each proposal passes the muster of a sponsor's administrative and budgetary requirements.
The key to our office's success is providing exceptional service. We do that through our on-time assistance, focus on project and timeline management, and continual learning in this field of Research Administration.
This position reports to the Post-Award Manager of the SRAS.
The minimum requirements of the position are a Master's degree and 5 years of related experience. However, per UK's equivalency policy, experience can substitute for education. For this position, a Master's degree is not required if you have additional related experience to substitute for that time. Please see the equivalency link for more specific information and examples. Microsoft Office Suite, esp. Excel, Teams, and OneNote. Knowledge of UK systems ( SAP, eIAF, Cayuse, Tableau).
