Job Summary
The University of Kentucky is seeking a full-time, 9-month, tenure-eligible Assistant
Professor of Musicology to join our outstanding faculty in the UK School of Music to begin August 2024. We are particularly interested in applicants with areas of specialty in Early Music through the 18th century, with secondary areas of research, such as historical performance practice, colonial and/or post-colonial studies, global studies, and gender, race, and sexuality. The committee welcomes transnational, hemispheric, and global frameworks as well as postmodern methodologies. We seek a vibrant, effective teacher and a dedicated, promising scholar who exhibits a high degree of professional integrity and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Candidates should articulate a vision for inspiring learning and ensuring student well-being.
Duties will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in music history and musicology and advising master's theses and doctoral dissertations. The successful candidate will also be expected to build a strong research profile consistent with Research I and UK School of Music standards, as well as participate in shared governance within the School of Music, the College of Fine Arts, the University, and the professional community. Candidates must hold a PhD by the time of employment and, preferably, have at least one year of teaching experience at the college level beyond graduate school.
