EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The U.S.-Colombian Fulbright Commission (Fulbright Colombia) invites U.S. and Colombian citizens to apply for the position of Executive Director. Founded in 1957 Fulbright Colombia is a non-profit, binational organization which promotes mutual understanding between the two nations through academic and cultural exchange programs and related services. The Executive Director oversees an annual budget of over $7 million and reports to a binational board comprised of Colombian and U.S. members, including a member from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and representatives of the U.S. Embassy. The Executive Director also reports to the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Demonstrated leadership competencies, program management and development experience, human resources management experience, financial oversight experience, marketing and public relations expertise, and an entrepreneurial spirit are key attributes for this role. The Executive Director is the public face of a high-profile, prestigious binational program, requiring outstanding interpersonal, public speaking, and diplomatic skills. Competitive candidates will demonstrate credibility in action and the ability to bring together different interests in a constructive and solution-oriented manner. The position requires domestic and some international travel to promote U.S.-Colombia academic cooperation and the Fulbright Program.

The candidate should have a minimum of 10 years of professional experience; experience in fundraising; solid knowledge of the higher education sector, both public and private, in Colombia and the United States; experience engaging the Colombian Government on issues of higher education; and be able to direct and supervise a team of approximately 20 full time professionals and other contractors. The candidate must be legally eligible to work in Colombia, possess an advanced degree, preferably from a U.S. university (doctoral degree preferred), and have fluency in both English and Spanish.
