In addition to traditional engineering concentrations, applicants with a background in human factors, applied or cognitive psychology, human-computer interaction, computer science, built environments, biomedical applications, and other emerging areas are encouraged to apply.

In addition, candidates should have:
  • An ability to work comfortably in interdisciplinary settings.

  • Mixed methods (qualitative and quantitative) research experience.
  • Experience designing and/or adapting new technologies and techniques.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Evidence of collaborative research skills (communication, team building, conflict resolution).
  • Knowledge of human subject ethics and experience writing Institutional Review Board (IRB) research protocols.
  • Experience with Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence, and advanced Haptics is a plus.
