Training Manager

General Description:
The Training Manager is responsible for oversight and facilitation of all aspects of professional competency development and enhancement within the organization and will produce content and provide training on various topics essential and relevant to the engagement and growth of MVLA employees. The Training Manager will design training courses to increase effectiveness in job performance, expand awareness, and boost critical thinking. The role will entail creating, implementing, managing, and evaluating training programs to build knowledge base and skills and bolster employee achievement at all levels of the association. The Training Manager will collaborate with HR and department heads to identify training needs, contract or develop curriculum offerings, and ensure that training initiatives align with the organization's objectives.

Expected Hours:
40 hours/week, Monday - Friday

Essential Duties:
  • Oversee MVLA's training and employee development programs, including content design, implementation, management, surveys, and reporting.
  • Review existing training programs and processes; design and implement enhancements and modifications to current talent management offerings to improve engagement, bolster learning, and meet the organization's changing needs.
  • Collaborate with Department heads and HR to assess training needs, ensure compliance, identify skill gaps, and address performance management issues by designing and implementing targeted training interventions.
  • Develop and manage a training budget, including allocating resources for program development, delivery, evaluation, and vendor participation.
  • Acquire and utilize a solid understanding of the HRIS (Paycom) system to manage training offerings; become the resident expert on Paycom's training module.
  • Follow best training content and facilitation practices, considering time, cost, and collaboration efforts.
  • Ensure training milestones and goals are met while adhering to the approved training budget.
  • Develop and maintain organizational communications via HRIS, intranet, newsletters, and email to ensure employees are informed of training and development events and resources.
  • Regularly conduct evaluations of all training programs to assess effectiveness; Provide reporting as needed on key training metrics.
  • Train and coach managers, supervisors, and others involved in employee development on best practices for training initiatives
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in training and employee development technology.
  • Provide ongoing support and resources to employees to reinforce learning and skill application in the workplace.
  • Assist the Recruitment manager in implementing an enhanced internship program.
  • Build strong relationships with various training and education vendors and internship contacts.
  • Conduct annual training and development needs assessments; modify programs as needed.
  • Work effectively as a team member with other members of management and the HR Staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required; degree in Human Resources preferred. Bachelor's degree in another field and a combination of Human Resources experience will be considered
  • Several years experience managing a corporate training program preferred
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies
  • Ability to design, implement, and deliver effective training and employee development programs
  • Adept with various multimedia training platforms and methods; previous experience with learning management systems or training programs embedded within HRIS systems (such as Paycom) preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, editing, and presentation skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and build positive working relationships
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
