Entry Level Highway Maintenance and Repair Worker III
Dover Township is accepting applications for an entry level Highway Maintenance and Repair Worker III. Applicants must possess a valid PA Class B Commercial Driver’s License or above. Necessary skills and qualifications include proper operation, maintenance and repair of equipment, safe operation of manual, pneumatic and power tools, knowledge of street maintenance and repair best practices. Ability to be available for emergency callouts and operate a snowplow is also required. Pay scale will be discussed at the time of interview. The Township offers a very attractive benefits package. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform equipment operator work for the purposes of training; transport, load and unload
materials; drive truck and operate equipment to develop efficiency and skill.
- Repair, reconstruct and maintain roads with asphalt, hot and cold patching materials and concrete:
- use shovel, roller, trowel, level and long handled tamp;
- repair pot holes, cracks, bumps and sink holes ( cut out hole, fill with patching materials,
tamp);
- oil and chip resurfaced roads.
- Operate equipment with minimal supervision and guidance; operate manual pneumatic and power
maintenance tools (e.g. jackhammer, hydraulic tamper, chain saw).
- load and haul debris, snow, materials;
- repair wash outs from floods;
- trim trees along roads;
- remove fallen trees and low lying limbs from road;
- operate snow plow to clear roads and spread salt, cinder, or stone;
- clear snow from storm drains and place calcium on ice patch;
- gather, load and haul leaves;
- create gutters to keep water off roads;
- mow and cut back weeds.
- Replace worn or damaged parts on vehicles and equipment (e.g. hoses, wiring and belts) perform
routine maintenance tasks (e.g. change oil, check fluids, tires, battery, radiator, transmission,
brakes) wash and grease equipment and parts.
- Perform related tasks:
- paint curbs and traffic lines;
- set up work signs and flag traffic around construction sites;
- assist with sewer and sanitary line blockages ;
- organize and clean work area.;
- clean and repair catch basins, culverts and storm drains.
- erect, repair and replace guide rail and signs.
- clean equipment and vehicles.
