The Department of Art and Art History at DePauw University invites applications for a one year term position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in August 2024. An MFA in Graphic Design, MFA in Studio Art, Master of Design (MDes), Master of Art and Design (MAD), or related field with evidence of ability to teach the practice and theoretical underpinnings of design is required (by the time of appointment). A commitment to teaching undergraduates in a liberal-arts setting and evidence of effective and inclusive teaching are essential. The department specifically seeks candidates to teach three sections of Introduction to Design Studies, one section of an intermediate/upper level design course, and one additional course determined by the successful candidate's expertise. Teaching assignment is five studio courses per year, which factors in one course of reassigned time to manage design classroom space and equipment.

Application materials should provide evidence of a commitment to successfully fostering and engaging with a diversity of ideas and experiences to create an inclusive environment in the classroom and at the University.
