Dekalb Pathology, PC is seeking a 3rd Full-time Pathologists' Assistant to join our group. Dekalb Pathology, PC is a private practice located in metro Atlanta with practices in two area hospitals. It includes seven board-certified pathologists and two pathologists' assistants. We receive approximately 26k specimens annually between the two hospitals ranging from simple biopsies to complex cancer surgical resections and ten fetal autopsies annually. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and details oriented. We are looking for the right team member regardless of experience. Exam eligible new graduates welcome to apply.
Primary Responsibilities
- Accurate and timely dictation and dissection of specimens ranging from complex to simple
- Triage surgical specimens
- Assure proper patient verification on specimens and ensure appropriate specimen accessioning
- Obtain tissue for additional studies, including flow cytometry, immunohistochemical, etc.
- Preparing tissue for frozen section for pathologists
- Assistance with fetal autopsy (no adult autopsy)
- Performing Specimen photography and radiography
- Identify, investigate and resolve problems related to surgical pathology
- Knowledge of CPT coding
- Perform duties related to maintenance of the laboratory when needed, including cleaning workstations, maintenance of equipment, and notifying the supervisor of low inventory
Schedule
- 8-hour day shift (Monday-Friday 9-5 pm)
- No weekends
- No Holidays shifts
- No on-call

Minimum qualification
- Graduate of a NAACLS-accredited bachelor's or master's degree Pathologist' Assistant Program
OR
- A certified Pathologists' Assistant who is credentialed in or before 2010 without a Pathologists' Assistant degree
- AAPA fellowship status and PA (ASCP) membership
- ASCP certified
License/certification
Pathologist's Assistant PA(ASCP) certification is required before the start date.
