This position offers a hybrid opportunity to work both remotely and onsite, however 1-2 days a week of on-site work at DHHS in Concord, NH are required in addition to attendance at community meetings, etc.Therefore, this position requires the incumbent to reside within a commutable distance to Concord, NH.

Position Purpose

The Community Cancer Response coordinator is responsible for supporting NH's community cancer responses and the investigation of environmental health cancer cluster concerns. This position involves considerable work with the community relating to their concerns about the environmental and other local causes of cancer. The Community Cancer Response coordinator works under the NH DHHS Communications Specialist and to develop and implement a collaborative approach to addressing community concerns.

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp

Bachelors plus 6 or more years' experience or combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Ability to communicate and translate scientific information into lay language
· Ability to maintain positive, open community relationships
·Collaborates effectively with a team that includes NH Division of Public Health Services, town health officers, community leaders, and public.
·Demonstrated ability in handling multiple priorities, project management and meeting deadlines; strong planning and organizational skills.
·Proven relationship building, persuasion and influence skills.
· Strong customer service orientation, with extensive experience in effectively addressing and resolving issues.
·Must have access to car or be able to transport materials to and from meetings and special events/programs

Preferred Qualifications

Masters in Epidemiology, Public Health, or in a closely related field preferred

Key Accountabilities

Description

Community Response Coordination
· Facilitate meetings with NH DHHS for community cancer responses and investigation of environmental health related cancer cluster concerns within the state. Develops, reviews, and evaluates objectives and procedures for the cancer concern investigation guidance and protocol.

· Coordinate with NH DHHS public officials, town health officers, community leaders, health professionals and residents to discuss community concerns in cancer and environmental factors and identify the response strategies.

· Provide consultation, conduct formal presentations, and make recommendations to agency personnel, health professionals, and partners regarding community cancer response protocol and procedures to ensure consistency with agency health priorities.

· Communicate with stakeholders to support evidence-based decisions about environmental health related cancer concerns around the community.

Description

Community Response Engagement
· Coordinate the review and approval of cancer cluster analysis reports by members of the NH DHHS and other DPHS staff and collaborate with the Public Heath Communication Specialist for development and implementation of a communication plan.

· Facilitate community meetings and coordinate cancer data and findings presentations to respond to the community cancer requests or concerns.

Community Response Collaboration
· Participate in the strategic plan development with NH DHHS in collaboration with towns, local communities, and state partners.

· Collaborate with legislative liaison and program areas to support legislative activities and commission work.

· Work under the direct supervision of the Public Health Communications Specialist.
