Coppin State University, a fully accredited institution and a member of the University System of Maryland, is accepting applications for a full-time Tenure-Track Assistant Professor, for the Department of Psychology, Counseling and Behavioral Health. Founded in 1900, Coppin is an urban residential historically black university ( HBCU), serving students enrolled in day, evening, weekend, and online courses. Undergraduate majors available include Applied Psychological Services, with/without a Concentration in Alcohol and Substance Abuse, and Rehabilitation Services, both leading to a B.S. Degree. The Department offers graduate level degree programs in Addiction Counseling (M.S.) and Rehabilitation Counseling (M.Ed.). This full-time faculty position is a ten-month position that includes teaching in the Master's Clinical Mental Health counseling Rehabilitation Program, advising, and academic committee membership responsibilities to begin in Spring 2024.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Deliver instruction of courses within the department (9 graduate course credits per semester in Clinical Mental Health and Rehabilitation Counseling and other discipline-related subjects as assigned.)
  • Develop, present, and consistently maintain an active research and publication agenda.
  • Participation in student advising; Actively support student retention, progression, and graduation of students.
  • Provide service on Departmental, College, and University-Wide Committees.
  • Maintain on-campus office hours of at least 5 hours per week.
Required Qualifications

EDUCATION:
  • Candidates must have earned doctoral degrees in counselor education, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program, or have related doctoral degrees and have been employed as a full-time faculty in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2024.
EXPERIENCE:
  • An established record of teaching experience in a CACREP accredited program, particularly courses in Clinical Mental health Counseling and Rehabilitation Counseling with some Research related background.
  • Research experience that exhibits a scholarly background.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of clinical mental health counseling, rehabilitation counseling, and research.
  • A commitment to cultural diversity and social justice.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
