The College of Southern Nevada (CSN), Department of Dental Sciences, Diagnostic Evaluation and Rehabilitation Services is currently seeking a full-time tenure track Dental Hygiene Instructor. Teaching assignments may be multi-campus with the possibility of day, evening, weekend, summers, on-ground, online, and/or hybrid classes in accord with department needs.

Under the direction of the Department Chair, the Dental Hygiene Instructor will be responsible, but are not limited for the following:
  • Provide didactic instruction in the Associate and/or Baccalaureate programs- may include nights, weekends, and off-campus sites.
  • Provide clinical and lab instruction in the Associate and Bachelor programs.
  • Attend faculty meetings, program review, and development in-services for the faculty, which may include nights and weekends.
  • Maintain office hours for student advisement and remediation, per CSN Policy.
  • Participate in community service and program committee assignments, which may include nights and weekends.
  • Utilize various forms of online learning technology in teaching methodology.
  • Support the goals, missions, and core values of the dental hygiene program by building good relations through clear communication with the director, faculty, staff, and students.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene OR Associate of Science-Dental Hygiene AND a bachelor's degree in a health-related field from an accredited institution.
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in a master's degree program and have already completed one or more semesters
  • Three years of clinical experience as a full-time Dental Hygienist. One year of experience is equal to 11-12 months of full-time practice. Part-time practice (a minimum of 2 days a week) for 11-12 months will be equivalent to 6 months' full-time experience. Full-time and Part-time employment must be specified in the description of employment.
  • Provide evidence of an active Nevada Dental Hygiene license with local anesthesia and nitrous oxide permits or the ability to obtain a Nevada Dental Hygiene license and the local anesthesia and nitrous oxide permits prior to beginning start date of employment.
  • Must have by the start of employment a current BLS-CPR Provider Card/Certificate.
  • Must have by the start of employment membership in the American Dental Hygienists' Association and if hired, provide membership in the Nevada state and local component Dental Hygiene Associations.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Have already been awarded a master's degree in either Dental Hygiene, Education, Higher Education, Public Health, OR an equivalent degree in a health-related profession from a regionally accredited College or University.
  • Consideration will be given to BSDH degree applicants who began a master's degree program in the Fall of 2021.
  • Prior didactic and clinical teaching experience in a Dental Hygiene program.
  • Leadership/Management experience in a Dental Hygiene program.
  • Experience teaching and/or working with diverse student and staff populations.
  • Participation in the student chapter of the American Dental Hygienists' Association.



Starting Salary Range

Initial salary placement is based on educational level and total years of full-time equivalent teaching experience. For example, for an instructor with a Master's degree, the salary range would be $46,691 to $58,364 annually. The entire salary range is up to $71,723 annually with a Doctorate and 10 years' experience. A maximum of 10 years of experience will be considered for initial salary placement purposes.
