The Maintenance Worker is under general supervision and performs work in a variety of skilled maintenance areas to include mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting and related areas. Position will be evenings from 1pm-9pm. Shifts will be Wednesday thru Sunday with Monday and Tuesday off.

The University has an enrollment of over 9,000 students and is located in Clarksville, Tennessee, a community of an estimated 166,000 people located approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville, TN.

The Maintenance Worker is under general supervision and performs work in a variety of skilled maintenance areas to include mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting and related areas. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of carpentry tasks in the construction and maintenance of buildings and other facilities.
- Perform a variety of plumbing tasks such as removing, replacing or repairing plumbing fixtures, water lines, etc.
- Perform minor electrical repairs such as replacing switches, outlets, ballasts and lights.
- Perform work of an unskilled, semi-skilled or skilled nature when necessary such as painting, masonry, etc.
- Perform a variety of mechanical tasks such as preventative maintenance on air compressors, exhaust fans, etc.
- Perform work on HVAC, air handler, etc.
- Must wear proper PPE (safety shoes, hearing and eye protection)as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of methods, materials and procedures used in general repair and maintenance work.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety procedures.
- Knowledge of machines, tools and equipment used in a variety of tasks as required.
- Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
- Ability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations, the University community and the public.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to use, clean, repair and maintain equipment, tools and machinery required in accomplishing tasks.
- Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Ability to work in an on-call capacity and inclement weather duties.
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Bending, twisting and lifting weights to 100lbs.
- Heights and working on elevations of 60 feet.
- Work of ladders and lifts.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Up to one year of specialized or technical training beyond high school.
- A minimum of two (2) years of previous work experience in building and plant maintenance involving a variety of work such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, mechanical repair and HVAC.
- Valid driver's license.
- Basic computer literacy.
- A background check will be required of the successful applicant.
- An official transcript (if applicable) and names, addresses and phone numbers of three (3) references will be required for the successful applicant.
