America's Thrift Stores is recruiting Driver Helpers for our collection programs. Our search is focused on people with great customer service skills, combined with a great work ethic and a passion for helping people. Successful candidates will drive increased donations by maintaining collection sites for operational excellence. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Possess the ability to assist the Driver in picking up donations from box sites and homes
- Provide outstanding customer service to all donors and customers
- Assist Driver in navigation of the truck during route and pick-up operations
- Assist Driver in building safe and efficient truckloads of donations using company operational standards
- Communicate an awareness of our mission and goals to our donors and customers
- Maintain relationships with donors, site owners, and the general public
- Help sustain and maintain donation box sites and routes for donation collections
- Assist Driver in the future development of routes, donation box and trailer site placements
- Maintain clean and orderly donation sites and routes based on company operational standards
- Assist Driver in accurate record keeping and tracking of routes and donation pick-ups
- Work safely and efficiently in loading and unloading trucks and trailers
- Possess the ability to regularly work in the heat, the cold and in wet weather conditions
- Other duties as may be assigned by management
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Applicant must be willing to submit to a background check.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Must have a strong work ethic and be a Team Player.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Capable of bending, stooping, crouching, pushing, pulling and climbing stairs and in and out of a truck frequently.
- Able to accurately keep records and communicate donations progress.
- Demonstrated ability to simultaneously handle multiple activities at one time.
- Naturally mission driven, guided by core values.
- Experience working in a community outreach program or organization is a plus.
Requirements
Education: High School Degree, GED or equivalent work experience.
